Isaac Newton's discovery
If it wasn't for Isaac Newton's discovery of Calculus, we would have never known how to find the area of unusual shapes on graphs. Calculus branches into many different things, one of them is limits. Limits prove useful to us because it lets us know if the line on the graph is going to touch some number. Calculus deals with numbers that are infinite. Their are many questions as to why zero can't be divided into infinite and we yet do not know the answer. Isaac Newton brought up many important discoveries such as inertia and force. Isaac newton as shown us a new branch of math and that is Calculus.

"It was while puzzling over these matters that Hutton had a series of exceptional insights. From looking at his own farmland, He could see that soil was created by the erosion of rocks and that particles of this soil were continually washed away and carried off by streams and rives and repositioned elsewhere."
I found this quote to be interesting because it gives us insight on how erosion works. I have many questions as to why our coves are cut. I know that erosion caused the cove to split directly in half. It must of eroded billions of years ago. Or it could be because the junk of land became moist from the rain and then gradually fell apart. Some of the land must have slipped into the ocean and evaporated.

QQC chapter 4
"He invented the weather map and the actuarial table, proposed methods for working out the age of the Earth and its distance from the Sun..."
Without the weather map, we wouldn't have a news forcast. We would never have an understanding of the weather and climate. It seems like Haley is a person with a brilliant mind who contributed his ideas to society. Its people like him who move society forward. He used methods to find out the age of the Earth when no one else even cared. He also found out the the distance from the Sun. Where would we be if it wasn't for him. These essential things are important and should be taught to every generation.

Bryson reading chapter 2-3 blog
"One nice touch about Christy's discovery was that it happened in Flagstaff, for it was there in 1930 that Pluto had been found in the first place."
Mankind achieved one of its greatest accomplishments and that was discovering a small and obscure planet called Pluto (Pluto is in the Milky Way solar system, beyond the planet Neptune and it is a small planet with a cold climate). This leads us to the conclusion that there are more undiscovered and obscure planets beyond the reaches of our universe. Planets that are probably huge in size and mass. Some maybe habitable and some may be dangerous for humans. There are some many things about the universe and some of which are beyond our comprehension. As we take a step further we learn something valuable and become so fascinated with our research. I mean I'm so intriguing with space and what is beyond it. The problem is that space is an infinitely large and it takes years and years to get from one planet to the next. In order for humanity to continue exploring the unexplored cosmos then we must build a spaceship that travels insanely fast through space. It's truly amazing how we've explored every inch of Earth and now we want to fulfill our desire of exploring the cosmos. There are many planets out there that we have yet to discover. The solution to that problem is easy. People started establishing observatories on Earth to capture what is going on in space. Its easy for us to observe space without having to travel through it.
They're saying that Pluto is an odd planet because Pluto's oribital path is different from the other planets. Pluto seems like a unique and different planet from all the others because it is so far away from the SUn.
