Bryson reading chapter 2-3 blog

"One nice touch about Christy's discovery was that it happened in Flagstaff, for it was there in 1930 that Pluto had been found in the first place."
Mankind achieved one of its greatest accomplishments and that was discovering a small and obscure planet called Pluto (Pluto is in the Milky Way solar system, beyond the planet Neptune and it is a small planet with a cold climate). This leads us to the conclusion that there are more undiscovered and obscure planets beyond the reaches of our universe. Planets that are probably huge in size and mass. Some maybe habitable and some may be dangerous for humans. There are some many things about the universe and some of which are beyond our comprehension. As we take a step further we learn something valuable and become so fascinated with our research. I mean I'm so intriguing with space and what is beyond it. The problem is that space is an infinitely large and it takes years and years to get from one planet to the next. In order for humanity to continue exploring the unexplored cosmos then we must build a spaceship that travels insanely fast through space. It's truly amazing how we've explored every inch of Earth and now we want to fulfill our desire of exploring the cosmos. There are many planets out there that we have yet to discover. The solution to that problem is easy. People started establishing observatories on Earth to capture what is going on in space. Its easy for us to observe space without having to travel through it.
They're saying that Pluto is an odd planet because Pluto's oribital path is different from the other planets. Pluto seems like a unique and different planet from all the others because it is so far away from the SUn.

Bryson reading intro and chapter 1 blog

"humans' life adds up to only about 650,000 hours"

I've learned many interesting facts about our existence in this universe just from reading this article. I never knew that a humans' life adds up to only about 650,000 hours. I know that atoms can be used to assemble weapons of mass destruction or can be used to advance our scientific research. I've learned that the atom is the most essential particle in the universe without it we wouldn't have air. water, rock, stars and planets. I've always been intrigued with how we came to be. There are so many different theories and conspiracies as to how our species came to be. Who knows we could of been a microorganism that evolved over time into what we call humans. Some religious scholars strongly believe that humans were created from Adam and Eve. I don't know which theory is correct but being raised in a religious family I might have to agree with the Adam and Eve theory.
